We were hired by Humanscale to redesign their Chicago
showroom for Neocon. They wanted to streamline the
appearance of their showroom and showcase their new
tool rail accessories and new seating launch. Cues
were to be taken from their use of neutral tones of
white and gray with punches of color and minimalist
approach to product display. They wanted simple but
welcoming.
To achieve this image, we painted the black ceiling
white, along with all walls. The existing gray carpet
remained along the perimeter, but the center of space
received new industrial white vinyl flooring with a
refined circle pattern that played subtly off the Humanscale
logo. On this bed of white flooring, the lighted fabric
scrims around two central columns were replaced with
a more permanent architectural solution. One side of
the column supports frosted back lit glass panels with
a thin polished stainless steel frame. The other side
is made up of white lacquered panels which highlight
Humanscale’s tool rail and monitor arms, concealing
all hardware. Between the lighted columns, a new white
lacquer and a solid surface work table was created
to showcase their tool rails and ergonomic accessories.
Colorful stools were dispersed, adding additional layers
of color.
Humanscale deemed the Chicago showroom to be the benchmark
for future Humanscale showroom designs across the country. |
