Skender Interiors Group, a division of Skender Construction,
needed a workspace which would showcase their skills
and differentiate their distinct sub-brand. The young,
entrepreneurial team wanted an edgy, dynamic and modern
space to reflect the culture of their new downtown
presence and appeal to their client base. It was also
important to maximize access to natural light and views
and to encourage camaraderie and collaboration.
We created a tight architectural vocabulary with ceiling,
glass and natural stone elements. The linear space
maintains an open, airy feel by utilizing floor to
ceiling glass to define spaces. Floating walls and
ceiling planes delineate conference spaces without
feeling “closed in”. Accent backlights
draw the eye to a charcoal grey, linear-chiseled volcanic
silicate stone wall, providing contrast to the clean,
white space and creating a boundary for “front
of house” areas.
Perimeter private offices surround a centralized support
area which includes a cafe, built in file storage,
and print stations. Private offices also maintain an
open feeling with floor to ceiling glass and no doors.
Natural light is enhanced by indirect lighting, creating
a bright, inviting space.
