Strata Decision Technology, a fast-growing healthcare
software and consulting company, brought us on board
to develop their Chicago office in an existing space
at the Aon Center. They wanted to build upon the space's "strong
bones"
and convey the dynamic character of the firm's innovative
and forward-thinking culture.
The directive was to bring more "energy and life"
to the existing environment. The application of darker
background finishes created greater drama in the environment.
The selection of a saturated color palette,
dramatic furniture profiles, and reflective architectural
finishes, such as colored glass and stainless steel,
worked to increase the visual interest. Graphic light
boxes in key locations unified and enhanced the energy
of the space. The windowless corners of the building
provided the opportunity to establish casual meeting
areas, each with its own color scheme, unique furnishings,
and graphic light boxes. A series of enclosed meeting
spaces were developed to enhance collaboration. The
design team removed unneeded workstations at three
key corners of the open area and replaced them with
colored glass enclosures, each with a distinct color
theme and furniture solution. The enclosed meeting
spaces, along with the lightboxes and casual seating
areas, created visual focal points and further aided
in wayfinding throughout the space.
